Why to attend?
This course looks at the features of the Unix operating system – kernel, File system,
processes and logging options. We look at the common vulnerabilities that are exploited
on Unix systems – buffer overflow, password attacks, setuid etc. You will learn
how to implement the built in features of Unix to improve the security – logging
and auditing, password controls, user and file based access control. You will learn
the exact steps necessary to secure the two most common Unix flavors- Solaris and
Linux - and get specific advice for securing some of the most common network services
running on these platforms# Apache, Sendmail, and BIND.
